AUSTIN, TX ‐ The Dallas Area Legislative Delegation released the following statement in support of the University of North Texas at Dallas Law School:
"We are proud to stand with the University of North Texas at Dallas College of Law and its courageous objective to stake its future on the financially less‐privileged. UNT Dallas College of Law has given hope where others wouldn't, and we applaud Dean Royal Furgeson and the UNT Dallas staff for extending opportunity to the working‐class and minority families that make up the core of its mission.
Texas needs these students just as much as our community needs UNT Dallas. We need more lawyers willing to serve underrepresented communities. We need more students who cannot afford six‐figure debt loads. We need the talents of those who rise above their circumstances to achieve their dreams, and this is what UNT Dallas College of Law can produce.
We are confident that with hard work and a demanding course load, the students of UNT Dallas will meet the challenges ahead, from the Bar Exam to their legal careers.
The Dallas Area Legislative Delegation will continue to work with our state's law schools and our colleagues in the Texas Legislature to ensure we extend opportunity to every Texan who aspires to defend and uphold the laws of our country."
The Dallas Area Legislative Delegation is a bi‐partisan House delegation consisting of Members from Dallas County as well as the counties of Collin, Denton, Ellis, Kaufman, Hunt, and Rockwall.
