by: Rep. Leach, Jeff

PLANO – Representative Jeff Leach is pleased to join forces with the Texas Conservative Coalition Research Institute (TCCRI) by serving as a Co-Chair for two critical state Task Forces: The Free Enterprise, Energy, Electricity & Infrastructure Task Force and the Criminal Justice & Public Safety Task Force.

Stated Leach, “With the 85th Legislative Session only months away, it is critical that we take this valuable time to position ourselves for a successful, conservative session – and that starts with laying the groundwork with common-sense, free-market policies that will continue to strengthen our way of life in Texas. I am honored that TCCRI has appointed me to serve in this capacity and I look forward to continuing our partnership as we work to build an even better state for the Texans of today and the future Texans of tomorrow.”

Created by TCCRI, both Task Forces are comprised of select members in the Texas House and Texas Senate who meet regularly during the interim period and work closely with public and private sector stakeholders to address the many challenges and opportunities facing our state. The Task Forces work collaboratively with industry leaders to outline specific policy recommendations – all of which are unveiled through a final report released to the public and to the Texas Legislature prior to the start of the 85th Legislative Session.

The primary objective of the Free Enterprise, Energy, and Infrastructure Task Force is to take a close look at unnecessary regulations and restrictions within the private sector, while ensuring that Texas’s critical infrastructure networks – including transportation and water – are able to sustain future growth. Topics of discussion include occupational licensing, state and federal impacts of regulation, transportation infrastructure and the TxDOT sunset process, water infrastructure, and the Texas Railroad Commission sunset process. The Criminal & Civil Justice Task Force is focused on creating and maintaining a safe and stable environment for all Texans by studying policies related to border security, sanctuary cities, spillover crime, human trafficking, drug cartels and voter identification.

Representative Leach serves House District 67 in the Texas House of Representatives, representing portions of Plano, Allen, Richardson & Dallas in Collin County. Leach serves on the House Committee on Government Transparency & Operation and the House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence. He is a graduate of Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law and currently practices at the law firm of Gray, Reed & McGraw, P.C. He received his undergraduate degree from Baylor University. Jeff and his wife Becky are the proud parents of Brady (age 8), Charlotte (age 5) & Landry (age 1) and are active members of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano.
