State Representative Jeff Leach Announces Personnel Changes: Promotes Lauren Young as Chief of Staff, Transitions Mary McClure into New Role as District & Communications Director

Today, State Representative Jeff Leach announced two personnel transitions within his Capitol and District offices. Lauren Young, who most recently served as Leach's Legislative Director, will serve as Chief of Staff, overseeing his state operation and managing the office's public policy initiatives. Mary McClure, who has served as Representative Leach's Chief of Staff since 2013, will transition into a new role as District & Communications Director, where she will direct all constituent services within Representative Leach's District Office while managing the office's media and communication outreach.

"I have worked diligently to assemble what I consider to be one of the best staffs in the entire Texas Legislature. I have taken great pride in surrounding myself with a hard-working, talented and skilled team of fellow public servants that have a true commitment and devotion to the people we serve. I am proud of the work we have accomplished as a team, and I am confident that both Lauren and Mary will thrive in these new roles as we continue our work on behalf of the great people of House District 67 and the State of Texas," stated Leach.

Young, a West Texas native and Baylor graduate, joined Representative Leach's Capitol office in 2014. She quickly worked her way up to Legislative Director, where she helped guide and direct Representative Leach's public policy initiatives during the 84th Legislative Session. Prior to her work for Leach, Young served in the offices of U.S. Senator Ted Cruz and U.S. Congressman Mac Thornberry. Young also served in the office of State Senator Kel Seliger during the 83rd Legislative Session.

McClure, a Collin County native and Baylor graduate, began her work in the Legislature as Leach's Chief of Staff in 2013, where she oversaw Leach's Texas operation. Based from the District Office in Collin County, McClure managed Leach's legislative agenda while running constituent services during the 83rd and 84th Legislative Sessions. Prior to joining Representative Leach's team, McClure served as Campaign Manager for Collin County's revered U.S. Congressman, Sam Johnson, where she ran his political operation in Texas.

Representative Leach serves House District 67 in the Texas House of Representatives, representing portions of Plano, Allen, Richardson and Dallas in Collin County. Leach serves on the House Committee on Government Transparency & Operation and the House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence. He is a graduate of Southern Methodist University's Dedman School of Law and currently practices at the law firm of Gray, Reed & McGraw, P.C. He received his undergraduate degree from Baylor University. Jeff and his wife Becky are the proud parents of Brady (age 8), Charlotte (age 5) and Landry (age 1). They are active members of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano.
