(Austin, TX) - State Representative James White hosted a group of Veterans from Southeast Texas at the State Capitol on March 29th. The group was made up of various branches of service, Vietnam Veterans, wives, caregivers, and Gold Star family members who lost family in the Vietnam War.

Honor and Remember and the U.S. Department of Defense assisted with the coordination of this event to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. During their visit, the group had the opportunity to hear from Rep. James White, Senator Robert Nichols, Land Commissioner George P. Bush, staff from the Texas Veterans Commission, and Governor Greg Abbott. The State Preservation Board provided a special tour of the Texas Capitol highlighting military history. Lastly, the group visited and took a group photo with the Vietnam Memorial on the northeast corner of the Capitol grounds.

"I was humbled by the opportunity to host these veterans and their families from Jasper County. As a former officer in the U.S. Army, I know the sacrifices these men and women have made to serve their country. We cannot give enough thanks for the commitment and courage these honorable Veterans put forth while serving abroad in Vietnam," said Rep. White.
