AUSTIN, Texas – For the fourth straight year, State Rep. Dawnna Dukes (Austin) presented Huston-Tillotson University President Dr. Larry Earvin with a check for $20,000 during the 16th annual African-American Community Heritage Festival .
"With this year's donation, we have now given the University scholarship fund more than $170,000," said Rep. Dukes. "Watching the fruits of our labor these past 16 years grant deserving Huston-Tillotson students the opportunity to earn their college degrees has been truly gratifying."
Following the presentation, President Earvin expressed his gratitude for the support the Festival continues to provide.
“We appreciate this, every year,” said President Earvin. “Especially in times like these, this helps to make a difference for our students.”
More than 2,000 people attended the 2015 African American Community Heritage Festival.
