National Preservation Month and Texas Travel & Tourism Week

Austin, TX - The Texas Historical Commission (THC) will offer free admission to all 20 state historic sites on Sunday, May 3, in celebration of National Preservation Month and Texas Travel and Tourism Week.

Among the destination options on THC Historic Sites Free Day, are historic homes, military outposts and forts, Native American burial mounds, and a national World War II museum. These destinations also include many THC sites that have been renovated or restored.

State Representative James White encourages all Texans to take advantage of this opportunity to not only visit but learn more about the history that makes Texas great.

For a complete listing of sites visit and make your plans now to visit a site near you. Site hours vary at the various historical sites and visitors are advised to contact the sites directly for hours of operation.
