Austin, TX- February 27, 2015: Representative Toni Rose, Dallas, filed House Bill 1929 to give Dallas County authority to use county vehicles to transport Senior Citizens to Health and Cultural related events.

Representative Rose noted, "This has been a successful program for many years in Harris County. I am looking forward to extending this assistance to the senior citizens and their caregivers in Dallas County."

The program aims to help groups of seniors enjoy the many activities, parks and scenic places available throughout Dallas County and surrounding areas. By making this recreational transportation available for use by senior citizen groups, we hope to assist in adding years of pleasure and adventure to the lives of our valued older citizens.

"The passage of HB 1929 would further enhance what Dallas County does to embrace the concerns of its senior citizens. The core mission of this legislation is to engage our community's seniors in life enrichment and educational activities. I firmly believe seniors are one of our more precious assets. Seniors built this community. They made Dallas County what it is and we still need their leadership and wisdom. Staying mentally engaged is one of the keys to longevity. We strive to provide ways for seniors to stay involved through a wide and growing variety of services and by reminding them you are never too old to stay engaged," said Representative Rose.

Representative Toni Rose was elected in 2012 to the Texas House of Representatives and serves as Vice-Chair of the Human Services Committee. She is also a Member of the House Committee on Juvenile Justice and Family Issues and the House Committee on Rules and Resolution. Representative Rose represents District 110, which covers parts of Dallas, Balch Springs and Mesquite.
