(AUSTIN, TX) -- February 4, 2015 --Texas House Speaker Joe Straus announced the appointment of State Representative Angie Chen Button as chair of the Committee on Economic and Small Business Development.
"I am honored that Speaker Straus has entrusted me with chairing this important committee. I am eager to continue working to ensure Texas remains the number one job creator in our country," stated Chairwoman Button.
During the interim, Button served as Chair of the House Select Committee on Economic Development Incentives. The Select Committee studied current economic development incentive programs and focused on reforming them to ensure the state's programs are diverse, efficient, and transparent. According to Button, "Given the recent drop in oil prices, it is more important than ever that the state works to diversify its economy. Additionally, the public should know where their tax-dollars are spent and they should see a benefit. I am excited to continue working on these issues as chair of the Economic and Small Business Development Committee."
Button's other assignments include the Rules & Resolutions and the Ways & Means Committees.
