Austin, TEXAS – Tuesday, January 13, John Wray took the oath of office and was sworn in as the Texas State Representative of House District 10 for the 84th Texas Legislature. Dozens of family members, friends, constituents and well-wishers watched as Secretary of State Nandita Berry administered the oath to Wray and his colleagues.

The occasion carried added significance, as it was the first time Rep. John Wray was sworn in to serve his community in the Texas House of Representatives. “It’s exciting; it’s an honor,” Wray said. “I’m a history buff and I’ve always been a political observer, so it’s thrilling now to be a part of this.” Wray further explained, “Since the election, I’ve had the opportunity to meet with colleagues and study up on the issues affecting House District 10. I look forward to advancing the priorities of our community and ensuring that our values are represented before the legislature.”

Rep. Wray, a life-long resident of Ellis County, anticipates a productive session and one that will improve the wellbeing and prosperity of all Texans. Members of the House have already filed several bills that will have a direct impact on the House District 10. In support of strong regional economic development, Rep. Wray is focused on bolstering transportation infrastructure and ensuring the review of restrictive policies such as the Margins Tax. He also stated that he would look to uphold personal liberties by supporting measures protecting 2nd Amendment rights. Rep. Wray added that he was intent on securing the border: “Immigration and border security are the top concerns of Texans and as a legislature, we must resolve to secure our border.”

The Texas Legislature meets for 140 days every two years. The 84th Legislature will close on June 1, 2015.

John Wray is a principled conservative serving in his first term as Texas State Representative, House District 10, the area encompassing Ellis County and part of Henderson County. John currently resides in Waxahachie with his wife, Michele, and their two children, Morgan and Patrick.
