Austin, TX --- Today at the Texas State Capitol, Four Price took the oath of office as state representative for House District 87. Price, along with 149 other state representatives, was sworn into office at noon in the Texas House Chamber during opening day ceremonies. During the 140 day legislative session, members will write a new two-year state budget and consider numerous bills and resolutions.

“I am deeply grateful for the privilege of again representing the hard working families of Carson, Hutchinson, Moore, Potter, and Sherman counties. I take my responsibilities very seriously and will continue to represent our Panhandle values. I am eager to roll up my sleeves and work with anyone who wants to find common sense conservative solutions to the challenges Texas faces. I believe in results not rhetoric,” said Price. “My staff and I plan to primarily focus on four main areas of concern: sound state budgeting, education, healthcare, and water.”

Since being first elected in 2010, Price has authored and passed legislation protecting children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. He has also authored and passed legislation improving healthcare, increasing patient safety, strengthening rural healthcare, enhancing student athlete safety, and increasing state government efficiency. Regarding water, he has authored and passed ground water legislation and joint authored the historic House Bill 4 of last session.

Representative Price continues his work as a member of the Sunset Advisory Commission, to which he was appointed in 2011. During the 2013 legislative session, Price carried several “sunset” bills improving a number of varied state agencies. In 2014, he was appointed to serve as Vice Chair of the Sunset Advisory Commission, a twelve member body, which reviews the operations of state agencies and makes recommendations to the legislature regarding whether an agency should continue to exist and, if so, how its functions can be made more effective and efficient.
