Houston and Galveston To Be Final Stops In Seven-City Series
AUSTIN - Rep. Donna Howard today announced that the Women's Health Tour, a statewide series of Listening Sessions on women's health issues, will have its final stops in Houston and Galveston on August 12th.
The sessions are free and open to the public. These forums will begin with a brief overview of legislative actions on family planning and women's health issues. Lawmakers will then listen as community members share their thoughts, concerns, and experiences related to the subject matter.
In Houston, Rep. Howard will be joined by Harris County legislators Alma Allen, Carol Alvarado, Ana Hernandez, Senfronia Thompson, Sylvester Turner, and Gene Wu.
Rep. Howard, who has attended each leg of the tour, released the following statement:
“These public forums will be an invaluable opportunity for the Houston and Galveston communities to discuss women's health issues with concerned lawmakers.
"A year ago, we saw historic protests at the Capitol as State Leaders rammed through legislation aimed at severely limiting access to vital women's health services. We need to hear firsthand how Texans are being impacted.
"The women of Texas have been marginalized and tossed about like a political football at the State Capitol. I am grateful to have this opportunity to get guidance from them in person."
