AUSTIN-Rep. Dukes made the following statement in response DFPS announcement:
"The well-being of Texas children is much more important than the interests of any corporation. Although it is unfortunate that Providence Service Corp. could not fulfill its contract, I support the decision of the Department to take over the initial foster care redesign effort. The state must focus on making available critical services to strengthen children and families, keeping children in foster care close to home, and focusing on permanency. The Select Committee on Child Protection will continue to evaluate the current system and provide resources and solutions to make improvements in order to keep children safe."
