10 Area Interns Travel to Austin, Receive Recognition on House Floor

Austin, TX-- Yesterday, State Representative Pat Fallon (Frisco) recognized 10 outstanding high school students on the floor of the Texas House of Representatives. The students are participants in the inaugural House District 106 Internship Program and were selected for the honor from a large pool of over 100 exceptional applicants.

“I’ve been looking forward to the students’ trip to Austin,” said Fallon. “It’s pretty rare for a high school student to get an inside look at the state legislature while session is wrapping up. We hope today will be memorable for them.”

The students' day at the Capitol was a busy one. They submitted personnel paperwork to become official House interns, took a tour of the Capitol grounds, and enjoyed the rare opportunity to climb through the 311-foot-tall Capitol dome.

The highlight of the day occurred when Representative Fallon submitted House Resolution 1747 and spoke from the dais of the House floor to publicly recognize the students for their accomplishments. Each student will receive a formal, signed copy of the Resolution. An excerpt from the document reads:

"Through hard work and dedication, these dynamic young Texans are learning about the issues facing citizens of District 106 and the Lone Star State and are gaining valuable work experience in the field of public service; now, therefore, be it resolved that the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Carly Boobar, Robert Stewart, Marissa Morris, Courtney Smith, Maddy Gosnell, Sarah Meeks, Nicole Bordman, Micky Willis, Allison Gage, and Brandon Summerlin […] and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success."

The interns will assist with constituent services and community outreach at Representative Fallon’s district office in Little Elm. The office is located at the Little Elm City Hall, 100 W. Eldorado Parkway. Constituents are invited to contact this office anytime the district staff might be of assistance.

State Representative Pat Fallon represents the newly formed Texas House District 106 in Denton County. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and served as an officer in the United States Air Force. In 2009, he was elected to serve on the Frisco City Council, and in 2012 he was unanimously chosen by his fellow councilmen as the Frisco Mayor Pro Tem. Pat Fallon is the owner and CEO of Virtus Apparel and its companion companies, employing nearly 100 Americans. He lives in Frisco with his wife Susan and two sons. He and his family are members of Holy Cross Catholic Church in The Colony.
