by: Rep. Dale, Tony

AUSTIN -- State Representative Tony Dale, Cedar Park, last week passed House Resolution 343 honoring the United Way of Williamson County on their 75th Anniversary.

Founded in 1939 as the Taylor Community Chest, the Williamson County United Way has many accomplishments over their seventy-five year history. Among these are the fifty-four community programs serving the youth, elderly and disabled. These programs include the M.O.R.E mentoring initiative, and the management of three VISTA tax preparation sites, which offer free tax assistance to low-to-moderate income and elderly clients.

The United Way of Williamson County also raises money to support thirty-four local organizations who work in the community to further the goals of United Way. Each organization must complete a rigorous re-application process each year to prove that they comply with their stated goals.

Dale stated, "I am privileged to honor this outstanding organization that is dedicated to building better communities by helping families and individuals to achieve their ultimate potential through education, income stability and healthy lifestyles."

Dale was elected to the House in November 2012. He is a small business owner and veteran of the U.S. Army who previously served on the Cedar Park City Council. He represents western Williamson County, including the communities of Cedar Park, Leander and Brushy Creek, as well as parts of north Austin.
