Cites Tax Relief and Infrastructure as Top Concerns

Austin, TX-- State Representative Pat Fallon (Frisco) listened intently, along with his fellow House members, as Governor Rick Perry addressed the Texas Legislature in the House Chamber. Today Perry revealed his top priorities for the 83rd Legislative Session at the State of the State address. The Governor called on the Legislature to provide at least $1.8 billion in tax relief, invest in the state's water and transportation infrastructure, and improve access and choice in both public and higher education. In addition, he specifically called for a constitutional amendment to allow the state to give money directly back to the taxpayers.

Strong economic growth in the State of Texas and an expanding population have increased demand on transportation and water infrastructures. To address these needs, Governor Perry urged law makers to utilize $3.7 billion from the Rainy Day Fund for a one-time investment in water and transportation needs. He also urged the Legislature to end diversions from the State Highway Fund to add an additional $1.3 billion of ongoing biennial funding for transportation.

Said Rep. Fallon regarding the Governor's initiatives, "Our office looks forward to working with the Governor and his staff to address the needs of our state while growing our economy and focusing on tax relief for all Texans."

State Representative Pat Fallon represents Texas House District 106. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and served as an officer in the United States Air Force. In 2009, he was elected to serve on the Frisco City Council, where he was unanimously chosen by his fellow councilmen as the Frisco Mayor Pro Tem.
