Representative Jessica Farrar Presents 'Petoberfest' in the Northside  print page

by: Rep. Farrar, Jessica

HOUSTON, TX -- On Saturday, October 22, 2011, several community organizations will come together to host 'Petoberfest' from 9 am to 1 pm at Marshall Middle School, 1115 Noble Street. This event will offer free spay-neuter services for dogs and cats, reduced-price vaccinations for dogs and cats, free educational materials on responsible pet ownership, a Halloween pet picture booth, and other exciting activities for pets and their owners.

The Northside neighborhood suffers from an epidemic of homeless animals. Petoberfest aims to reduce this population through educating pet owners about spaying and neutering their animals, providing spay/neuter services at no cost, and vaccination services at minimal cost. Additionally, the event will teach citizens how to take care of their pets in a humane manner.

Pet owners who wish to have their animal spayed or neutered must arrive between 6:30 am and 7 am. The spay/neuter service will be provided to the first twenty pets who qualify. All other activities will begin at 9 am.

Petoberfest is co-sponsored by State Representative Jessica Farrar, City Councilmember Ed Gonzalez, BARC, SNAP, CAP, Greater Northside Management District, Go Neighborhoods - Northside Village, Barrio Dogs, LISC, Avenue CDC, and Marshall Middle School.
