On Wednesday April 27th, the Texas House of Representatives voted on a tentative map that could potentially change the layout of Representative JM Lozano’s District. When the map is finalized it will determine Texas districts for the next ten years. According to the proposed map, Jim Wells County would become a part of District 43. Representative Lozano is pleased to possibly welcome Jim Wells County to his district.

“If the map gets approved, I’m looking forward to representing the great county of Jim Wells.” Lozano said. “ I plan on doing my best to cater to the unique needs of every county in my district.”

Lozano, a native of Premont, Texas has always considered Jim Wells to be a neighbor and is familiar with the citizens and needs of Jim Wells County.

The House committee on Redistricting released the prospective map a few weeks ago to be debated on the House Floor. The map is subject to change while going through the final stages of approval. From the beginning Representative Lozano was happy with the projected map and the addition of Jim Wells County.

“I encourage any citizens of Jim Wells County to contact me if they have any questions or concerns”, Lozano said. “I am more than happy to begin corresponding with the great people of Jim Wells County.”

The new map will take immediate effect as soon as it is passed in the Senate and the Department of Justice gives their consent. If all goes well, Representative Lozano will begin his efforts to the greet Jim Wells County to his District.
