Austin - Today, State Representative Dan Huberty was assigned to the Public Education and State Affairs committees for the 82nd Legislature. Speaker of the Texas House, Joe Straus, announced committee assignments for all members early this afternoon.

Representative Huberty was very pleased to hear about his assignment to the Public Education committee saying, "I am very happy with Speaker Straus' decisions. I believe my experience as a Humble ISD School Board member and former President will be a great asset to my service on the Public Education committee. Especially as we venture through the tough decisions that will need to be made in respect to the budget, I am glad to be a voice for the education community."

Similarly, Representative Huberty was extremely pleased with his appointment to the State Affairs committee. "It is truly an honor to be selected to serve on a such prestigious committee as a freshmen member. I am in the company of some great members and am looking forward to working with them over the next 110 days. I will work to do what is best for the State of Texas and District 127, in particular."

Speaker Straus also made comments about the appointments saying, “One of the most important roles of the Speaker of the House is making committee assignments. I have tried to apply the interests and expertise of individual Members to our State’s challenges, and to make sure the geographic and demographic diversity of Texas is fairly represented. In my second term as Speaker, I am committed to continuing to lead the House with respect for the Members and the people who sent them here, allowing members to govern in a way that represents their constituents.”
