AUSTIN -- State Representative Dawnna Dukes (Austin) is recuperating from a laparoscopic myomectomy and an hysteroscopic myomectomy. Both surgical procedures were performed Monday morning, June 30, 2008 at Seton Hospital.
Dukes, author of House Bill 723 during the 75th regular legislative session, relating to informed consent before the performance of an hysterectomy tirelessly sought an alternative to the procedure. The surgical procedures were ultimately scheduled during a time period that would have the least amount of negative impact on her legislative duties. Dukes was released from the hospital on Monday afternoon. She expects a full and complete recovery prior to the next legislative session. Dukes appreciates the care of the excellent surgical team headed by one of Austin's best reconstructive surgeons and well wishes, support and prayers received over the past forty-eight hours.
Representative Dukes' district office will continue to be available to assist constituents.
Well wishes can be sent to P.O. Box 2910; Austin, Texas 78768.
