AUSTIN — February 21, 2005 — Representative Charles “Doc” Anderson (Waco) announced today that the City of West and its citizens will visit the Capitol in Austin for West Day on Monday, February 28th.

Along with their abundant good will, Mayor Russ Willsey and other leading citizens of West are bringing their famous, not-to-be-missed kolaches, a longtime favorite among Capitol employees. In previous legislative sessions, kolaches from West have been designated the Official Kolache of the Texas Legislature.

“I’m honored by the people of West bringing their Czech heritage and hospitality to the Capitol,” said Dr. Anderson. “This is the renewal of a wonderful tradition, and I look forward to many future events like this from West and the citizens of McLennan County.”

In addition to visitors from West, Dr. Anderson is also hosting the 2A State Football Champion Crawford Pirates, along with the Crawford High School band and cheerleaders.

Dr. Anderson added, “It is a true blessing for me that the district is close enough to Austin for folks to come down regularly. The Capitol is their building, and as far as I’m concerned, the more [visitors] the merrier.”
